Hipster Star Wars vs Star Trek Sweater

Those who follow me on Instagram or my Geek & Nerd DIY Thread on Kleiderkreisel (<3 you guys) have already seen this photo of my new upcycled Star Wars Sweater. But it's actually a Star Wars vs Star Trek Sweater! But let's begin with the original sweater. It was a promotional item from my last job for a Til Schweiger movie, nuff said, it needed a fix up.
Here's the before:

And I chose this old shirt of the future husband to cut up and make Awesomeness!

I thought long and hard what to put on the sweater and came up with a sideways rocket to cover up the front letters, scratch that, too childish. That lead me to the spaceship from Firefly, the Serenity, scratch that, too much detail & not too recognisable. And that lead me to the Millenium Falcon of Star Wars. But what to put on the back? Another Star Wars picture? How about the Enterprise from Star Trek. Brilliant idea, Anni!

So I googled me up some good images and copied the silhouette from the laptop screen onto paper and cut it out to use as a stencil to cut out the Millenium Falcon and the USS Enterprise from the shirt.

Once you have cut out the pieces of cloth you can pin the to the sweater, careful not to pin the through both sides, and then sew the pieces to the sweater outlining the image.

Et voila! A masterpiece of a Nerd Sweater with a hint of Hipster flair (plaid). Will turn every geeks head and make him think "What are you? A Star Wars Fan or a Star Trek Fan?" And I will say "Both!". Make it so! And may the force be with you!

Picturesque Friday ~ 12 July 2013

It's been a while since I participated in Steffi's "Question-Photo-Friday" (Frage-Foto-Freitag) on her blog ohhhmhhh.de. Today is my sick edition and I'll answer her questions with the following photographs that were taken the past weeks, because I've been in bed all of this week.
For the first time in Instagram pictures:

What are you up to?

We're moving in about a week and trying to get rid of as much furniture as quickly as possible. I might do a post on all the funiture we had here, where it came from, its story.

What are you wearing?

I am wearing sweats and a t-shirt and I'm not taking a picture of it. This however was what I was wearing for our going away party with our closest friends here in Munich. Imma miss you!

What's wow?

The bavarian countryside! Took a trip with friends here.

What would you like?

To have this awesome free gymnastics class in the park in Berlin as well! But I guess I will have to make do with the lake 10 minutes away from our house...

What do you have to do today?

Nothing!

#winning

Sometimes life is full of goodness. I feel like I'm winning life right now. I've got a loving future husband. We are both moving back to Berlin in a couple of weeks. We found an awesome apartment wand got to sign the contract within 5 days. We both got jobs starting in August.#winning

Of course some of you are also winners. I sent out mails to the lucky winners of my Give-Away this weekend. Congratulations!

Aaand I won a Workshop in Hamburg with with Eco-Designer Julia Starp. The Give-Away was hosted by Otto, an online-shop für fashion, furniture & more. You were supposed to send in a picture of an accesoire item that was upcycled/recycled & I applied with my Crochet VHS-Tape Clutch.
The workshop will take place on the 27th of July and I'll definitely report on that as soon as we're settled in Berlin.

So long & thanks for all the fish(tofu).

EDIT:
Steph and Daniel from the awesome geek/make-up blog Huitième Art are celebrating their 400th follower & having a Give-Away as well. Stop by here to participate and definitely check out their blog as well!

(trip to the Sylvenstein barrier lake with friends this weekend, trying to experience as much of munich & bavaria while I'm still here)

Popped some tags at the Thrift Shop

I guess thrifting is going mainstream if there are "rap" songs about it. I'm definitely all for it, because in this consumer world there should be more people buying second hand than from IKEA, H&M & Co. I'm just back from a trip to my favorite thrtift store in Munich, the Weißer Rabe (check my page about thrifting for details). We're moving away from Munich soon so I wanted to go there at least one more time. Also a friend of mine from Berlin requested an illustrated book on Munich, because she visited last summer and would like a reminder of all the beautiful places here.

Here's my thrift finds:

This food processor beauty is actually not from the thrift store, it's a thrift swap! There's a swapping page on facebook similar to the "Give it away" page, but instead of just giving it away you swap it. I swapped the machine for a package of coffee and diapers. Sounds weird? It was! Especially buying the diapers made me feel super uncomfortable. Yeah... (15€ in coffee&diapers)

My obsession from my childhood: The little Vampire. I own almost all the books and tapes from this series and check the children's section everytime if there are any copies I don't own yet. But of course I never know if I got them already, so I just buy them all. (1€ each)

There were a couple of illustrated books on Munich, but I liked this one the best. I hope my friend will like it as well. I think it's from the late 70s, so the images are not quite up to date but it makes it pretty special and kind of hilarious given the outfits people are wearing. (2€)

Cute cupcake postcard set. I will probably use these for a special occasion real soon. (1,50€)

And last but not least I got this Rapunzel Barbie curtain that I'm going to use as a cloth for a long dress, I think. (2€)

I also got some Jeans shorts for the future husband for 2€, but he put them on immeadiately (over his sweat pants) and I will spare you that image.

If you got some awesome thrift finds, fell free to comment with a link to you blog, if you want!
